19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from that period of that year.

Success also signifies the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an better serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent defended four early opportunities in a tight third set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
